Tennessee Won Both Games From Murphy.

Orange and White - April 10, 1908

Errors hurt Murphy College in the second game.  That and the fact that Murphy College was a Preparatory School.  They may have been a "rural school" but I'm sure that they made UT take notice.  It wasn't until 1916 that the two teams faced each other again.  UT won that game as well (14-3).

Now, to see if I can convince the current UT record keepers that, although UT did play and beat Murphy College, they should footnote the wins as being against a High School.

Murphy Collegiate Institute - 1927

Murphy Collegiate Institute began in 1923.  Previously it was known as Murphy College.  It was a college preparatory secondary school located in Sevierville, Tennessee. It closed the doors in 1935.
